Postal Solutions Division
Overview
For nearly 13 years, Postal Solutions Division (PSD) has been helping U.S. Postal Managers develop and implement solutions to address their most pressing problems. Our efforts have supported the US Postal Service (USPS) with implementing a number of key automation initiatives to reduce costs and improve service. PSD helps the Postal Service design, plan, implement, and support pivotal technology and process changes that enable them to meet their business objectives.
Nortel Government Solutions combines the Postal domain expertise along with talented management and technical expertise to deliver technically sound software system solutions to the Postal Service that meets their business needs. Software systems we have developed and support for USPS are presently executing at more than 350 Mail Processing and Distribution Centers. Our areas of service include:
- Full life-cycle systems development using CMMI ML 3 processes
- On-site Engineering Technical Support, which includes network engineering support, acquisition management support, and mail processing automation process support
- Independent image collection and results verification
PSD develops and supports a wide array of software systems and services to support USPS strategic initiatives, such as:
- Sort Program System (SPS)
Software used to develop sort programs which are loaded on mail sorting equipment that sorts the mail in the carrier's walk sequence.
- National Directory Support System (NDSS)
Software system used to maintain and generate national address directories which are loaded on mail processing equipment to enable sorting.
- EZ Finder (EZF)
Software system that performs address lookup capability using "fuzzy logic" to resolve partial or missing data.
- Automated Tray Label Assignment System (ATLAS)
This system produces standardized 24-digit bar coded labels for trays, sacks, and tubs of mail used for tracking these units of mail. This is essential in supporting the optimization of mail processing and transportation networks, thereby allowing the USPS to reduce transportation costs and improve transportation management as well as provide visibility into the route of these units as it travels from the facility it entered the mailstream to its final destination.
- Web End of Run (WebEOR)
PSD redesigned and migrated the legacy USPS-developed client/server mail processing end-of-run data collection and analysis system to a web-based three-tier system that collects operational statistics from Mail Processing Equipment runs, stores data in an Oracle database on a Windows 2000 server and produces a variety of customizable reports on data.
